Call For Proposals

Deep in the Harp of Texas”

Take a deep dive with us into the harp ensemble experience. The AHS 2025 Summer Institute offers opportunities for personal, musical, and professional growth to harpists of all ages and abilities, with a particular focus on harp ensemble. As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas! The 2025 Institute and AHS Harp Ensemble Festival in Texas will offer a unique opportunity to explore all things harp ensemble on an unprecedented scale. Deepen connections with your harp community across our organization and in our home towns, and join in the mission of the American Harp Society as we collaborate to create a culture of excellence in performance and teaching.

Proposals may be submitted online.

Submission Eligibility

  • Applicants must be current member in the national American Harp Society at the time of submission, as well as during the Institute.
  • Presenters are required to register for the Institute in order to present.

Institute & Proposal Details

  • The Institute will take place between June 12-15, 2025 in Dallas, TX.

  • The AHS does not support proposals based solely on promoting individual commercial products. 
  • The AHS does provide an Artist Sales space, where presenters and performers materials are available for sale. 
  • The AHS shares digital handouts via the Institute app.  Presenters are responsible for providing hard copy handouts. 

Application Process

The online application form requests the following:

  • Session Title
  • Full Session Description
  • Short (25 word) description for the program and online
  • Session Format.  All sessions are 50 minutes
    • Panel Discussion: 3-4 varying perspectives on a single topic
    • Group Demonstration Session: Session with a performance group (for example: group rehearsal techniques, improvisation, incorporating music theory practical applications). Presenters will provide their own demonstration group.
    • Lecture recital: includes a performance from the presenter along with a lecture
    • Participatory workshop (attendees bring their own harps)
  • Demonstration Group or Performer Information (if applicable)
  • Session Room Needs (include audio visual and technology requirements) 
  • Presenter Biography (150 words or less) and high resolution photo (.jpg, png, eps)

Notifications will be made via email no later than September 1, 2024.
