Caroline Lizotte Master Class

French-Canadian harpist and composer Caroline Lizotte is internationally reknown as one of the leading harp composers.  She will present a master class at the Summer Institute on the morning of Sunday, June 4th.  Her works being widely performed, recorded and imposed in competitions, she receives several commissions from harpists around the world. She is dedicated to sharing her art through her creations, editions, mentoring, concerts and the recording of her entire works. Caroline recently produced her first album Lizotte Plays Lizotte and she is currently working on her next opus for harp and violin, commissioned by Lori Gemmell and Etsuko Kimura with support from the Canada Council for the Arts. Caroline Lizotte is also a harp professor at the University of Montreal’s Faculty of Music.

Interested master class participants should apply here.  Each student must submit an unedited mp3 or mp4 recording of their selected piece. This application and recording must be received by April 1, 2023. All files must be named in this format:  MC_lastname_firstname.mp3 or .mp4. Please note that this recording will be used to qualify the students for participation, and is not an audition. A variety of skill levels will be selected so as to be an engaging experience for the teacher, students, and audience.  Repertoire is of the applicant's choice; although not required, students are encouraged to select a piece by Caroline Lizotte.
