Education Group Coordinator

A. ASTA (American String Teachers Association) (liaison) - to provide communication and coordinate activities between the AHS and ASTA on both
local and national levels.

B. Educational Advisory - to provide new educational opportunities for students, to promote communication and sharing of ideas among teachers, and to make available to the membership information on educational topics.

C. Harp Literature - to promote the creation of new harp music, ensuring the presentation of this new music at a conference, searching for and rediscovering harp music of the past, and encouraging republication of old harp music. Please click here to submit a proposal. 

D. Historical Harp Society (liaison) - to provide communication and coordinate activities between the AHS and the Historical Harp Society

E. MENC (Music Educators National Conference) (liaison) - to provide communication and coordinate activities between the AHS and MENC.

F. Music Education Auditions - to design, promote and administer the program Auditions and Evaluations. This valuable program provides an opportunity for all harp students who are national members of the AHS to participate in a learning, noncompetitive performing experience.

G. National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC with NSOA) (liaison) - to provide liaison and sharing of information with this charitable organization, chartered in 1898, whose purpose is to encourage American music and musicians.  The AHS is an affiliate member of the NFMC and shares common goals with them in encouraging music education, advocating high musical standards and promoting young artists and composers.

H. Salzedo Centennial Fund - to support the publication of previously unavailable music by Carlos Salzedo and the reissue of that which is out of print, and to produce CDs of Salzedo’s music.

I. Winners Outreach Program - to help with giving performance experience to American Harp Society National Competition prize winners other than the Concert Artist.

J. World Harp Congress (liaison) - to promote and support the performing arts in general and in particular to promote and support the composition, performance, teaching, studying and appreciation of the harp worldwide.
