The Lyon & Healy Awards will be held June 14-15, 2013 in Los Angeles, California at the Colburn School of Music.

Lyon & Healy AwardsRules of the Competition

  • The Awards are open to all harpists who have not passed their 35th birthday by June 1, 2013. *Participants must be a member of the American Harp Society. (See below for membership information.)
  • Auditions will be open to the public. Contestants will not be interrupted during performance.
  • Repertoire must be played from memory.

 Applications must be accompanied by

  1. Copy of identification that indicates birth date.
  2. One teacher recommendation stating that the applicant knows the required repertoire.
  3. A non-refundable registration fee of US $25 payable to “Lyon & Healy.”

Harps

Harps will be available for those participants who are unable to bring their own instrument.

Awards

The Lyon & Healy Awards will determine three (3) Award Winners, each receiving:

  • A joint recital at Lyon & Healy Hall and a copy of the performance recording.
  • $2,000 in cash to be used to further education
  • $500 gift certificate to Lyon & Healy Harps

Participants will play each of the following pieces:

Gabriel Fauré: Impromptu pour la Harpe, Op. 86

Winners

The winners of the Lyon & Healy Awards held June 18-19, 2011 in Denton, Texas at the University of North Texas College of Music were Sarah Nicole Davis, Samuel Karlinski, Katelyn Mullins, and Elizabeth Anne White.  Honorable Mentions went to Alisa Coffey, Chen-Yu Huang, Emily Klein, Melissa Stockstill and Maura Valenti.

Winners of the  2009 Lyon & Healy Awards held June 26-27, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah at Westminister College were Sadie Turner, Elizabeth White and Danyi Xia.
